‘Wolfie’ Martin Adams is celebrating today after claiming his fourth Dutch Open Championship last night. The three times World Champion from Peterborough won three sets to one in a competition that attracted a field of more than 3,000 players. For Adams it was the fourth time he won this title. Earlier he became Dutch Open Champion in 2010, 2011 and 2015. In a thrilling final, his opponent Danny Noppert from Holland played well and threw a 170 and 161 finish.
Both darters were serenaded by the enthusiastic darts fans in the Bonte Wever in Assen. Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams picked up the trophy and wins an amount of € 5,000 euros.The Englishman was lucky in the semi-final against Kevin McDine. Adams lost the first set, but because ‘Supa Mc’ missed a lot of doubles the experienced ‘Wolfie’ came back and won the match 2-1 in sets.
In the women’s final it was Lisa Ashton who won the title for the first time. In a thrilling final against Lorraine Winstanley she bent a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 victory. We also have three fantastic youth champions. Maikel Verberk claimed the boys title for the second time in a row, Priscilla Steenbergen took the girls title and Gian van Veen was the strongest by the under 14.
